Events & Volunteering

The T-shirt shack and t-shirt design contests are traditions at Crescent Lake. It started when a community member began creating and selling Crescent Lake-themed T-shirts out of their garage and holding an annual design-creation contest. 
There is a dedicated building on Crescent Lake Road selling Crescent Lake-themed merchandise and managed by a volunteer. 

T-Shirt Shack Manager
The T-Shirt Shack manager selects and orders merchandise, coordinates volunteers and Shack hours, manages inventory and sales, and promotes the Shack throughout the season. In addition, the manager sells merchandise at the Annual Meeting and the Labor Day picnic. They typically also oversee the annual T-shirt design contest, including collecting entries, coordinating member voting, and announcing the winning design. 

The Annual Golf Tournament is a social event that takes place in July. CLA members and friends can attend. Any level of golfer, as well as non-golfers, are welcome to join. 

Participants can assemble foursomes or the Chair can assign an individual to a team. The cost is $15 for walkers, $25 for cart. Mulligans are available for purchase. The tournament also includes longest drive and closest to the pin contests, along with the coveted Red Buoy Trophy awarded to the winning team. Proceeds will support Lake programs

Tournament Chair
The Tournament Chair coordinates the annual event with the golf course, communicates event details and team assignments to participants, organizes contests and prizes, and manages day-of tournament activities. Volunteers may also help with registration, contests, photos, and other tournament-day needs.

Annual Labor Day weekend festivities include the CLA picnic, canoe race, basket raffle, boat parade, and 5K Run/Walk. The picnic takes place on Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Proceeds from the picnic benefit the invasive species fund.

Picnic Chair & Volunteers
The Picnic Chair coordinates the weekend festivities with the help of volunteers. Volunteers are needed for a variety of activities, including event setup and cleanup, collecting donation baskets and running the auction and raffle, running the blind canoe race, food prep and setup, music, and children's activities.

The Crescent Lake 5K Run/Walk takes place each year on the Sunday after the CLA Labor Day Picnic. The out and back course begins at the boat launch and follows Crescent Lake Road. Registration begins at 8:30 at the boat launch. Walkers start at 9:00 a.m. and runners at 9:30 a.m., with a shorter turnaround point available for walkers.

5K Chair & Volunteers
The 5K Chair coordinates registration, race-day logistics, course setup, timing, T-shirts, and race results. Volunteers help with registration, timing, course support, and cleanup.

The Welcome Team helps new homeowners feel welcome and connected to the Crescent Lake community. Whenever possible, a team member meets new homeowners in person and provides them with the CLA Welcome Booklet and other helpful information and resources about the lake and community.

Welcome Team Chair 
The Welcome Team Chair identifies and connects with new homeowners, personally welcomes them to the lake community, and shares the CLA Welcome Booklet and other resources.

Ladies' and Men's Nights are annual CLA member social events and a longstanding Crescent Lake tradition. Held at a lake member's home, these casual gatherings offer an opportunity to reconnect with neighbors and welcome new members of the lake community.

Events are typically potluck dinners held in July or August. Each year, CLA members are invited to volunteer to host, with the host choosing the date, location, and details for the evening. Event and RSVP information is shared with members by the CLA Secretary.

The annual Milfoil Swim takes place in May or June and has been a Crescent Lake tradition for more than 20 years. The goal is to search the areas of the lake most vulnerable to aquatic invasive species, helping to identify potential problems before they can spread.
 

Volunteer divers and spotters search the water with the support of boat drivers. To date, no invasive plants have been found in Crescent Lake—a success supported by ongoing prevention efforts, including the Lake Host boat inspection program.

Volunteers are welcome to participate as divers, spotters, or boat drivers. 

Crescent Lake Association participates in the NH Lakes Lake Host Program, which helps prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species. Trained Lake Hosts provide complimentary boat and trailer inspections at the Acworth boat ramp, looking for and removing invasive plants such as milfoil before they enter or leave the lake.

Volunteer Lake Hosts receive training and spend scheduled shifts at the boat ramp inspecting boats and talking with boaters about preventing the spread of invasive species.

The Crescent Lake lighthouse, dam, and boat launch are maintained with the help of community volunteers. Projects may include seasonal maintenance, cleanup, minor repairs, and other work needed to keep these important lake landmarks and facilities in good condition.

Volunteers with a variety of skills and experience are welcome to help as needs arise.
